An institution earns trust through how it governs itself.

The Institute for Human Advancement is built with three tiers of stewardship — and the financial discipline, transparency, and audited accountability expected of a serious 501(c)(3) from the outset.

How IHA governs itself.

Each tier plays a distinct role — wisdom, expertise, and fiduciary responsibility — and together they provide the continuity and accountability that make an institution trustworthy over decades.

Council of Elders

Senior leaders and statespeople whose judgment anchors the institution beyond any program cycle — providing wisdom, ethical guidance, and long-term continuity.

Topical Councils

Domain councils in Health, Education, Economic & Financial advancement, Technology & AI, and Global Advancement bring expertise, professional standing, and networks to each pillar.

Governing Board

Holds fiduciary responsibility and ensures the institution operates with the financial discipline, transparency, and accountability expected of a serious 501(c)(3) — with audited financials and core governance policies from the outset.

The standards of a serious institution.

These commitments are not aspirations — they are built into the institution from its founding documents forward.

Audited Financials

Independent annual audits conducted by a qualified CPA firm — the standard of transparency expected of a serious 501(c)(3) and required by the funders we are building relationships with.

Radical Transparency

Form 990 disclosures, program financials, and outcomes data made available to partners, funders, and the public. We do not hide how we spend or what we produce.

Core Ethics Policies

A conflict-of-interest policy, whistleblower protections, and document-retention procedures are in place from the founding moment — not adopted reactively.

Fiduciary Oversight

The Governing Board holds legal and financial responsibility. Its members are selected for independent judgment and willingness to hold leadership accountable to the institution’s mission.

The founding leadership combines deep community relationships — across faith, civic, medical, educational, and philanthropic life — with a commitment to institutional rigor. Full council rosters are being assembled now; this is precisely the work to which we are inviting our founding partners.

Institute for Human Advancement — In Formation, 2026

Lend your judgment to our councils.

We are assembling leaders from faith, medicine, civic life, education, and philanthropy who are willing to give more than their name — leaders who will engage, hold us accountable, and help shape an institution built to last.
