Website terms.
The ground rules for using the IHA website, public tools, learning experience, and donation checkout.
Effective and last updated: July 23, 2026
Scope and acceptance
These terms govern the public website at theiha.org and website features operated by The Institute for Human Advancement Inc. (“IHA,” “we,” or “us”), including IHA Advance, KAIA, forms, registrations, and donation checkout.
By using the site, you agree to the provisions that apply to ordinary site use. When we ask you to check a box or take another affirmative action before submitting a registration, creating an account, or making a payment, that action confirms your agreement to the terms presented with it.
A program, event, partner-operated service, or linked product—including IHA Care—may have a separate agreement, consent, refund policy, or health-information notice. If supplemental terms conflict with these website terms, the supplemental terms control for that service.
Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 to independently submit personal information through unrestricted general-site features or use paid features. Programs intended for younger participants may allow participation through a separate age-appropriate enrollment and consent process. A parent or legal guardian must authorize participation wherever required by law or the program terms.
You agree to provide accurate information, keep access links and account credentials secure, and notify IHA if you believe an account or session has been used without authorization. You are responsible for activity conducted through your account to the extent permitted by law.
Acceptable use
Use the site only for lawful, good-faith purposes. You may not:
- Break the law, infringe another person’s rights, or submit deceptive, abusive, or harmful material
- Probe, disable, overload, or interfere with the site, an account, a payment flow, or a security control
- Use automated means to scrape, extract, train on, or republish site content without written permission
- Impersonate another person, misrepresent an affiliation, or provide information you are not authorized to provide
- Upload malicious code or use the site to distribute spam, fraud, or unauthorized advertising
We may restrict access when reasonably necessary to protect users, partners, IHA, or the site, or to investigate a suspected violation.
AI learning tool
IHA Advance and KAIA
KAIA and IHA Advance provide general educational information. AI-generated responses may be incomplete, inaccurate, or inappropriate for your circumstances. Review important information independently and use qualified professionals for decisions that matter.
KAIA does not provide medical, mental-health, legal, tax, financial, employment, or emergency advice; it does not create a professional, fiduciary, provider-patient, or attorney-client relationship. In an emergency, contact local emergency services. Do not submit sensitive, confidential, or regulated information to KAIA.
Certificates document completion of IHA learning activities. They are not academic degrees, professional licenses, government credentials, promises of employment, or guarantees of competency unless a specific program agreement expressly says otherwise.
Donations and recurring gifts
Donations are processed by Stripe. By submitting a gift, you authorize the stated one-time charge or, for a monthly gift, recurring monthly charges in the amount shown until canceled. Contact IHA through the link below to cancel a recurring gift. We will stop future charges as promptly as reasonably practicable; a charge already submitted for processing may still be completed.
Unless IHA accepts a restriction in a separate written gift agreement, a designation made in Checkout expresses your program preference rather than creating a legally restricted fund. IHA will use charitable gifts consistent with its mission and applicable law. If a designated activity is completed, overfunded, or no longer practicable, IHA may redirect the gift to a substantially related charitable purpose.
Completed charitable gifts are generally nonrefundable. Contact IHA promptly about a duplicate, unauthorized, or erroneous charge. Refunds, when legally required or approved by IHA, will be returned to the original payment method when practicable. Canceling a recurring gift stops future gifts and does not reverse completed gifts.
IHA provides a receipt for completed charitable contributions. Tax deductibility depends on the donor's circumstances and applicable law; IHA does not provide tax advice. A ticket, sponsorship, or other payment that includes goods or services may be only partly deductible or not deductible. The applicable offer or receipt will identify any disclosed value.
Communications
When you submit a form, create an account, register, or transact, you agree that IHA may send messages reasonably necessary to complete or administer that request. Promotional email is governed by the choices and unsubscribe method presented with the message.
Any SMS program requires separate consent and program-specific disclosures. Message and data rates may apply. Consent to marketing texts is not a condition of a purchase or service. You may revoke consent using the method stated in the program message or any other reasonable method. WhatsApp communications use WhatsApp and Meta systems and are not SMS.
IHA content, your submissions, and third parties
Site text, graphics, logos, videos, research, curricula, software, and other materials are owned by IHA or its licensors and protected by applicable law. You may access and make reasonable copies for personal, non-commercial learning, with attribution and without alteration. Any other reproduction, commercial use, data extraction, or distribution requires written permission.
You retain ownership of material you submit. You give IHA a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, copy, process, and display that material only as reasonably necessary to operate the feature, respond to you, administer a program, and meet legal obligations. Do not submit content you lack permission to use.
Third-party links and services—including Stripe, WhatsApp, and external learning resources—are governed by their own terms. IHA does not control and is not responsible for third-party content, availability, or practices.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the public website and its general informational content are provided “as is” and “as available.” IHA disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and uninterrupted or error-free availability.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, IHA and its directors, officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential loss arising from the public website or general informational content.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability based on IHA's gross negligence or willful misconduct where applicable, or limits non-waivable statutory rights. These website terms do not replace the liability terms of a separately signed program or event agreement.
General terms
These website terms are governed by New York law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to any non-waivable right or separately agreed dispute process, a dispute concerning these website terms will be brought in a state or federal court with jurisdiction in New York.
If a provision is unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will remain in effect. A delay in enforcing a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign your rights under these terms without IHA's written consent; IHA may assign these terms as part of a lawful organizational transition. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
These terms, the Privacy Policy, and any supplemental terms presented for a specific feature form the agreement governing that feature. Headings are for convenience only.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms to reflect changes to the site, our practices, or the law. The effective date above shows when they last changed. Material changes may be communicated through the site or by email when appropriate. Changes do not retroactively alter a completed transaction.
Use the contact form for a terms question, recurring-gift cancellation, payment error, copyright concern, or legal notice. Include enough information for us to identify the request, but do not include full card numbers or other sensitive information.
